About our company

The history of our traditional family business begins in 1877, when Franz Komarek took over the Marchegg chimney district as a chimney sweep. In 1916, his son-in-law Rudolf Reindl succeeded him as master chimney sweep. His son, Rudolf Junior, graduated from the HTL Mödling in mechanical engineering and pursued the idea of combining the traditional chimney sweep trade with heating construction. However, he was unable to realize this vision as he was killed in action during the war.

After the death of Rudolf Senior, his widow Aloisia continued to run the business together with her daughter Grete until Sepp Kast returned from captivity as a prisoner of war. Sepp then passed his master craftsman’s examination and took over the management of the business in 1954. In keeping with the tradition of many chimney sweeps, he was also an active member of the volunteer fire department. Sepp Kast rose to the position of President of the Austrian Federal Fire Brigade Association.

From 1984 to 1986, the company was managed by Heide Schicker, before Georg Schicker – also a master craftsman and graduate of the HTL Mödling in building technology, energy planning and heating construction – took over the reins in 1986. This meant that the combination of chimney sweeping and heating construction first envisaged by Rudolf Junior decades earlier was realized and the company was made fit for modern requirements.

Today, the company offers a wide range of services: In addition to chimney sweeping work, the portfolio also includes gas, water, heating and air conditioning technology, electrical installations as well as the production of wood chips and replacement afforestation.

The next generation is already involved: Daughter Sabrina successfully graduated from HTL Mödling in 2014 with a degree in building technology, while Anna will complete her college degree in construction technology in fall 2025. Sabrina and Anna will take over the management of the business in the near future.

The shared vision is to develop the company into a full-service provider for all aspects of buildings and building technology.

The youngest members of the family, Alex and Felix, are still in kindergarten, but are already being familiarized with the knowledge needed to one day run the business in the seventh generation.

This family tradition has remained alive for a century and a half – founded on craftsmanship expertise, further developed with technical know-how and geared towards future-oriented development.
